UPCOMING CEU MASSAGE WORKSHOPS Upcoming Massage Certificate Courses
CLINICAL MASSAGE THERAPIST SFSM's Clinical Massage Therapist course elevates basic massage skills to the next level. Working within the familiar structure of Swedish massage, students will learn to integrate deeper knowledge of muscle function with foundational deep tissue work to begin to treat knots and tension more effectively. Specific care plans will be covered for each area of the body while lessons emphasize palpation skills and greater tactile awareness for the practitioner. Business classes will begin to help illuminate the budding therapists professional identity and assist them in building a network of healthcare professionals for referrals. Cost: $1,450.00 (Includes books, registration, and equipment use)

The classes will provide tools and a framework to assist clients in preventing and minimizing the effects of injuries and overuse syndromes. This workshop will cover pre-event, post-event and training aspects of massage, and will approach common client injuries in a goal-oriented way while allowing a great deal of hands-on practice. Prerequisite: 100-Hr Massage certification. Bring two sheets to class. Cost: $400.00 TRIGGER POINT RELEASE • Instructor: Dr. Eric Rubin, DC, CMT Saturday-Sunday, March 27 & 28, 2010 from 9am to 6pm, 16 Credit Hours: This class is designed for the massage therapist wanting to take their skills to the next level of precision. Trigger points are area of extreme tenderness within muscles that are often involved in chronic pain and dysfunction. Students will learn to assess, identify and assist the client in releasing long-held patterns and areas of stubborn potential in the body. Increase you effectiveness by working smarter, not by working harder. Prerequisite: 100 hour massage certification. Bring two sheets to class. Cost: $230.00 DYNAMIC STRETCHING AND MOBILIZATION • Instructor: Dr. Eric Rubin, DC, CMT Saturday – Sunday April 3 & 4, 2010, from 10am - 6 pm, 14 Credit Hours: Our bodies were designed to move. Modern life, however, is increasingly sedentary, limiting our natural types and ranges of motion and creating restriction in our bodies. Traditionally, massage is performed on a passive, static body rather than actively involving the client on the table. This two day intensive workshop is designed to give the therapist practical tools for actively engaging their clients in the process of opening their bodies from within. Topics will include visual assessment, contract/relax, PNF, reciprocal inhibition and practice integrating these dynamic approaches into the Swedish massage format. Prerequisite: 70 hours of training, bring two sheets to class, wear appropriate underclothes for visual assessment. Cost: $ 230.00 To read more about these and other California bodywork seminars, CEU workshops and classes @ SFSM, please click. Last Updated 3/2/10 |
